Vanderbilt has the research, the students, and the ambition to be one of the strongest AI safety communities in the country. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, we help with mentorship, curriculum, and a path to funding. All free.

Why Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt’s School of Engineering and its computer science department put real machine learning research on campus, and the university draws ambitious, technically sharp students from across the South and beyond. That kind of talent at a top research university is exactly where an AI safety and alignment community belongs. Right now there isn’t one. Georgia Tech, a few hours south in Atlanta, already has a group; Vanderbilt is a gap on the map.
What you’d be starting.
A real group
A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.
With support
Mentorship from organizers who have run these groups, a ready-made curriculum, and help finding co-founders and building a site.
And funding
A path to funding through the Pathfinder fellowship, for speakers, food, compute, and the group’s activities. Free to you, always.
