AI Safety at U Georgia
There isn’t an AI safety group at U Georgia yet. We’re looking for the people to lead one.
U Georgia has tens of thousands of students and a growing presence in artificial intelligence research. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, we help with mentorship, curriculum, and a path to funding. All free.

Why U Georgia.
Georgia’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence has anchored AI research and teaching on campus for decades, and a large, capable student body keeps that pipeline full. That combination, a real AI program next to thousands of technical students, is exactly where an AI safety and alignment community belongs. Right now there isn’t one. Georgia Tech, just up the road, already has a group. Someone gets to be first here, and U Georgia is a gap on the map.
What you’d be starting.
A real group
A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.
With support
Mentorship from organizers who have run these groups, a ready-made curriculum, and help finding co-founders and building a site.
And funding
A path to funding through the Pathfinder fellowship, for speakers, food, compute, and the group’s activities. Free to you, always.
Could you lead it?
Twenty seconds. A few quick questions so we know where you’re starting from.
