There isn’t an AI safety group at Penn State yet. We’re looking for the people to lead one.
Penn State has one of the largest student bodies in the country, tens of thousands of technical students who could build a serious AI safety community. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, we help with mentorship, curriculum, and a path to funding. All free.

Why Penn State.
The College of Engineering is one of the largest in the country, graduating thousands of computer science and engineering students every year. That’s exactly the kind of student body an AI safety and alignment community needs. Right now there isn’t one. Nearby schools like Carnegie Mellon already have a group; Penn State is a gap on the map.
What you’d be starting.
A real group
A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.
With support
Mentorship from organizers who have run these groups, a ready-made curriculum, and help finding co-founders and building a site.
And funding
A path to funding through the Pathfinder fellowship, for speakers, food, compute, and the group’s activities. Free to you, always.
