There isn’t an AI safety group at Northeastern yet. We’re looking for the people to lead one.
Northeastern’s co-op program puts thousands of students inside tech companies every year, exactly the students who could build a serious AI safety community. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, we help with mentorship, curriculum, and a path to funding. All free.

Why Northeastern.
Khoury College of Computer Sciences gives Northeastern real technical depth, and its signature co-op program sends students directly into the technology industry. That combination, students who both study these systems and help build the products around them, is exactly where an AI safety and alignment community belongs. Right now there isn’t one. Neighbors like Harvard, MIT, and Boston University already have groups. Northeastern is a gap on the map, and someone gets to be the first to fill it.
What you’d be starting.
A real group
A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.
With support
Mentorship from organizers who have run these groups, a ready-made curriculum, and help finding co-founders and building a site.
And funding
A path to funding through the Pathfinder fellowship, for speakers, food, compute, and the group’s activities. Free to you, always.
