AI Safety at NC State

We don’t currently list an AI safety group at NC State yet. We’re looking for the people to lead one.

NC State has the research, the students, and the proximity to industry to be one of the strongest AI safety communities in the country. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, tell us about yourself and your interest in AI safety. Where we can help, we offer free early support with first steps, existing resources, or finding co-organizers.

Why NC State.

NC State’s College of Engineering and its central position in Research Triangle Park put serious technical talent right next to the companies building frontier AI. That combination, a large engineering student body inside an industry corridor, is exactly where an AI safety and alignment community belongs. Nearby, Carolina AI Alignment at UNC offers an AI safety community. We don’t currently list a group at NC State, and we can help students explore starting one.

What you’d be starting.

A real group

A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.

Possible early support

We review your answers before matching you for one free initial advising call about getting started. Further support is at your advisor’s discretion; availability and format vary.

Outside programs

Pathfinder is one external program university-group organizers can explore. Outside programs make their own admission and funding decisions.
