AI Safety at Emory

There isn’t an AI safety group at Emory yet. We’re looking for the people to lead one.

Emory has the research, the students, and the proximity to industry to be one of the strongest AI safety communities in the country. It just needs a founding team. If that might be you, tell us about yourself and your interest in AI safety. Where we can help, we offer free early support with first steps, existing resources, or finding co-organizers.

Why Emory.

Emory’s computer science department and its strength in health and data science put real machine learning research on campus, and it draws talented, technically minded students into a city that is fast becoming a Southern tech hub. That combination is exactly where an AI safety and alignment community belongs. Right now there isn’t one. Georgia Tech, right across Atlanta, already has a group; Emory is a gap on the map.

What you’d be starting.

A real group

A reading group working through alignment research, a cohort running an AI safety fundamentals course, or a technical team building projects. You decide the shape.

Possible early support

We review your answers and consider where we can help with first steps, adapting existing resources, or finding co-organizers. Support is free; availability and format vary.

Outside programs

Pathfinder is one external program university-group organizers can explore. Outside programs make their own admission and funding decisions.
